Alcohol sachets
Alcoholic beverages are now available in soft packaging resembling those in which, among others, fruit mousses. After the case was publicized, Prime Minister Donald Tusk blocked the practice of alcohol sachets.
Changes to the Act on sobriety education
Deputy Minister of Health Wojciech Konieczny, when asked about this declaration in the First Program of Polish Radio, informed that the ministry was working on changes in Act on upbringing in sobriety and counteracting alcoholism.
“This act is under consultation, these changes are being processed,” Konieczny said. He added that it is very likely that appropriate provisions will be added to the regulation “taking into account what has happened recently and preventing it from happening in the future.”
Type of packaging
He noted that regulations have already been added limiting the promotion of alcohol and increasing penalties for its improper sale.
The deputy minister pointed out that the issue of the type of alcohol packaging would probably also be regulated. “This is one of the methods to prevent new, so to speak, inventions in the future, because the industry says that it is ahead of us. This is not entirely true, but (…) we have to look very far into the future and be very clear,” emphasized the deputy head of the Ministry of Health.
He added that the Prime Minister’s reaction to the issue of alcohol tubes creates an atmosphere for radically specifying all these regulations.
OLV company, manufacturer of the so-called sachets of alcoholic beverages under the Voodoo Monkey brand, informed PAP on Tuesday that it was withdrawing the entire batch of products from the market and immediately stopping their production. (PAP)
