Sales in July BMW’s fully electric cars on the European market rose by more than a third to 14,869 unitsaccording to data collected by consultants Jato Dynamics. At the same time, the number of new Tesla registrations fell by 16 percent to 14,561 units.
Tesla still holds a dominant position in Europe in terms of EV sales year-on-year. However, Tesla’s share of the European market is being eroded by companies like BMW and Volvo.
Overall, last month European car buyers registered 139.3 thousand new electric vehicles, about 6 percent less compared to the previous year.

Electric cars are less popular due to their price
Demand for electric cars in Europe is falling after countries such as Germany and Sweden have stopped or reduced subsidies. Lack of government support has led manufacturers to back off their electric vehicle ambitions.
Volkswagen said this month it was cutting production capacity at plants in Germany and indicated it may delay the introduction of new electric models. Mercedes-Benz has withdrawn its electrification plans and battery initiative.
BMW goes against the flow
