Government program My Electricity 6.0
Energy storage is a new, promising trend on the renewable energy market in Poland. The government’s “Mój Prąd 6.0” program, which starts in September, introduces significant changes aimed at encouraging prosumers to install larger photovoltaic systems and energy storage. Investing in energy storage not only improves the economics of photovoltaic investments, but also supports local producers and contributes to the construction of modern energy infrastructure in Poland.
According to Benchmark, under the new program, funding will only be available for PV installations and energy storage, which means excluding heat pumps and energy management systems. The new rules of the “Mój Prąd 6.0” program provide that for every 1 kW of installed photovoltaic power there must be 1.5 kWh of energy storage capacity.
Why are energy storage important?
Energy storage allow for the accumulation of surplus energy produced by photovoltaic installations during the hours of the greatest sunlight, and then its use in later hours, when production is lower or completely ceases. Thanks to this, it is possible to increase self-consumption, which directly translates into lower electricity bills and reduced network load during peak generation hours.
Dorota Zawadzka-Stępniak, President National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Managementemphasizes that the goal is to make energy storage mandatory for new photovoltaic installations. Introducing this requirement will help balance energy production and consumption, which will increase the stability of the power grid and the efficiency of the entire system.
