In an increasingly digitalized world, education faces the challenge of including everyone in the age of technology. It is not just about equipping classrooms with computers or bringing internet to remote areas, true digital transformation requires a collective effort that involves teachers, families, caregivers and entire communities. With this approach, the Telefónica Movistar Foundation promotes the discussion “Digital education: the challenge belongs to everyone”, a space that seeks to make visible the crucial role of different actors in inclusive digital education, and which will address everything from teacher training in rural areas to the importance of digital skills for employment in a constantly changing work environment.

Aware that digital education is a challenge that exceeds the responsibility of teachers and educational institutions, the Telefónica Movistar Foundation advocates a participatory approach in which fathers, mothers, caregivers and the community in general assume an active role. . “We firmly believe that The digital transformation of education is a shared challenge that requires the participation and commitment of everyone”said Fabián Hernández, President and CEO of Telefónica Movistar Colombia.

According to Hernández, the Foundation aims to empower diverse social groups, recognizing the active role that each one plays in the training of new generations to achieve true digital inclusion.

Digital inclusion in rural areas

According to the directive, the ProFuturo project has been crucial in providing offline educational content to rural areas, guaranteeing that teachers have training and tools even without continuous connectivity, which contributes to reducing educational inequality.

Families and caregivers: key actors in digital education

The Foundation also recognizes the importance of families in the digital educational ecosystem. Programs like ICT Family School have managed to digitally empower more than 120,000 parents and caregivers in Colombia over the last nine yearsallowing more than 9,000 people to receive training so far this year. This program has a special impact on older adults, who, as key caregivers in the country, play a fundamental role in the education of new generations.

Digital skills for employability

In addition to formal education, the Telefónica Movistar Foundation also works on training young people and adults for the world of work. Programs such as Conecta Empleo and Piensa en Grande have benefited more than 100,000 people in Colombia in the last year, providing more than 744,000 hours of training in digital skills. These initiatives seek to improve employment opportunities and promote entrepreneurship, responding to the demands of an increasingly digitalized labor market.

An appointment to advance digital education

To learn more about all these initiatives, the Telefónica Movistar Foundation and SEMANA Forums invite the virtual discussion “Digital education: the challenge belongs to everyone”, which will feature the participation of the president of Telefónica Movistar Colombia, Fabián Hernández. The event promises to be a space for reflection on the role of each actor in the advancement of digital education in the country.

The appointment is on November 7 from 11:00 am. Don’t miss the virtual broadcast on social networks and the SEMANA website. This conversation seeks not only to inform, but to motivate society as a whole to be an active part of the change in digital education.
