Record sales by BYD
Sales of passenger cars in September amounted to 417,603 units – we read in BYD’s information published on Tuesday. Not all cars sold are fully electric. As many as 252,647 units were hybrid models, and 164,956 were electric.
September sales result is as much as 46 percent higher than the result from September last year. Such a large increase in sales shows the dynamics of the company’s development not only on the domestic market, but also abroad. As it turns out, over 33 thousand cars were sold abroad.
So far this year BYD boasts total car sales of 2.75 million units. The company wants to reach the symbolic barrier of 4 million vehicles sold by the end of the year, i.e. in the next three months.
Incentives to buy electric cars
Recent actions by the Chinese government may help BYD’s sales plans. Beijing announced a number of economic stimuli that are intended to increase the disposable income of Chinese households.
An additional incentive to buy electric cars in China is a special government discount of PLN 20,000. yuan (approx. $2,900) for models in circulation. Previously, the discount was lower.
Other manufacturers
Another company can also boast of sales success Chinese car manufacturer – Geely Holding Group What. In September, the company sold 201,949 cars. A year earlier, this number was 166,955 units. Since the beginning of the year, Geely has sold 1.49 million units – that’s 32 percent. more than a year earlier.
However, it must be remembered that success for some often means problems for others. This is the case with smaller automotive companies from the Middle Kingdom. Undertaking Great Wall Motor Co.’s sold 108,398 cars in September, which means a decline of 11%. compared to last year’s results.
