Missing less than a year for the elections for the Congress of the Republic to take place, so several sectors already have their sights on and, little by little, they are uncovering their letters. On the other hand, there are others who have to be realistic with their possibilities and start working to get in the best way.
It seems that this is the case of the historical pactmovement that led the government of President Gustavo Petro to power, but that, little by little, he has been falling in the face of citizens.
Paulino Riascossenator of the broad democratic alliance party (ADA) and who was part of the historical pact, spoke in Week and was very sincere about the possibilities of the movement for the other elections.
“I will say it with all frankness: There is no possibility today that the historical pact governs us in Colombia. I speak daily with many people and the truth is that Colombia is hurt, ”he said.
In that sense, he explained that he will continue to support the projects that come from the political movement and that they help solve the country’s problems, but will not be with them in the face of the 2026 elections.
“Colombia what you want is that this presidential period ends quickly to continue betting on a change. Who will be? I don’t know and they will not ask me that, but the country still needs the change and it is no longer with the pact, “he said.
Riascos went further and confessed that there are several people who have told him to repent to vote for Petro and support this political project, as is happening to him.
“Politicians who are close here may have resentment and express themselves because the goal was not achieved, But listening to the peasant is something else “he said.
In fact, he argued that many people from the common feel deceived by what has been done so far, especially because there are no opportunities and the public order situation in many areas is difficult.
“I am repentant to vote and support Petro, I say it and I hold it, but mine is without resentment”He said and, therefore, he remarked that he continues to support the proposals he considers relevant to Colombia.
“I want this to end fast,” confessed sharply.
The disappointment is so great that Riascos took advantage of the space to send a message to President Petro and reveal that, although he looked for the president, he did not even give him “five minutes” of his time.
“Today I would only tell President Petro that he lacked to listen to many people and fellow congressmen of the historical pact. I tell him that there were many people who played with the project, even that there are things they do and he doesn’t even find out, but affect the entire movement, ”he said.
Riascos reiterated that he does not speak from resentment, since he feels great pain for what is happening with the political project. “We came to govern Colombia minimum for 20 years, but we couldn’t” said.
