0% housing loan – is it possible to get it?
Grabiec answered a listener’s question on Radio Zet, whether a 0 percent loan will be “forced through” for the purchase of an apartment. “I think we will introduce 0 percent credit, force will not be required,” he replied.
As he clarified, this solution “will not solve the housing problem in Poland, of course, but a comprehensive action is needed”. “Both in terms of social and municipal housing, and here we increase the flow of funds, we want to increase it in terms of what local governments are doing. Along the way, TBS, but also subsidies for loans for those who cannot afford this loan, we have the most expensive loan in Europe” – indicated Grabiec.
“Everyone is talking about the 2 percent loan, which was a complete humbug, it didn’t work out for PiS, it was compromising. On the other hand, the “Housing for the Young” program, which in a few years provided housing and allowed 200,000 people in Poland to buy their own apartment, was the best housing program in Poland,” assessed the head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.
Dispute in the coalition over the 0 percent loan
Asked about the dispute within the coalition on this issue and Poland2050’s opposition to the 0% loan, Grabiec replied that “we are discussing this issue among ministers.”
“I think we will come to an agreement, today the Economic Committee of the Council of Ministers is discussing this. It is a bit of a shame that opinions are more often formulated in the media than in direct dialogue, but I think we will fix it and the coming days and weeks will bring intensive work so that the government projects regarding the comprehensive housing economy are adopted by the government,” said Grabiec.
“I’ve even seen analyses somewhere online that allegedly developers paid into PO. This is a complete fake,” Grabiec stressed, referring to the criticism of the 0 percent loan concept.
The chairman of Poland 2050, Szymon Hołownia, announced in August that his group would not support the naStart housing loan program. “We will not support a 0 percent loan,” the Speaker of the Sejm wrote on Platform X. This is a proposal for developers, not for people in need of housing, he said. (PAP)
