As Maspex announced in a statement on Tuesday, the finalization of the transaction means that from May 1, the Polish company will be responsible for the production and sale of this Czech alcohol. “The acquisition of the legendary Czech herbal liqueur brand with over 200 years of history is the 21st acquisition of the Maspex Group and the second on the Czech market,” it said.
Next to Żubrówka, Soplica, Absolwent and Bolsa
According to the company's representatives, the acquisition will allow the expansion of Maspex's portfolio with a unique product, but is also evidence of strengthening its position on the alcoholic beverages market, where the company has been present since 2022.
Wioleta Czaja, general director of the Maspex Group in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, announced that the company's current main priority is integration and maintaining sales by effectively including Becherovka in the Maspex offer.
“We will undoubtedly continue to invest in the brand – both through product development and marketing activities. We also want to support Becherovka internationally. Therefore, the product will be available in the offer of our branches, and we also plan its expansion to export markets,” said Czaja, quoted in the release.
Maspex is the largest Polish private group in the food industry and one of the largest in Central and Eastern Europe. In 2023, the company's sales revenues amounted to over PLN 15 billion. Its portfolio includes almost 70 brands, and its products are present in over 80 countries around the world.
Maspex has been present on the alcohol market since 2022, when it purchased CEDC – the leader on the vodka market and the largest importer of foreign alcohols in Poland. It has such brands in this category as: Żubrówka, Soplica, Absolwent and Bols.
