Inspections of energy certificates and heating systems
They have started all over Poland mass inspections of energy certificates and heating systems. Inspectors visit single-family houses, checking both whether they have a current energy certificate and the technical condition of heating systems. These inspections take place every few years, depending on the power and type of fuel used in the heating system:
- Boilers fired with liquid or solid fuel and whose thermal power exceeds 100 kW are inspected once every two years.
- Heat sources with a total power exceeding 70 kW are inspected once every three years.
- Gas-heated boilers with a power exceeding 100 kW are inspected once every four years.
- Boilers with power ranging from 20 kW to 100 kW are inspected once every five years.
What is an energy certificate?
Energy performance certificate, also known as energy certificate, is a document specifying the annual energy demand of the property. It contains detailed information about the amount of energy necessary for, among others: heating or providing hot water in a given property.
Thanks to this document, potential buyers or tenants can get a clear picture of the future costs of maintaining the facility. The certificate also enables building owners to identify potential improvements that can significantly increase energy efficiency and reduce negative environmental impacts.
Importantly, in the event of major renovations that may affect the building's energy profile, the certificate must be updated to reflect the actual energy status of the building. Failure to obtain an energy certificate may result in a financial penalty of up to PLN 5,000.
