The supervisory board of PKO BP appointed Szymon Midera as vice-president of the management board and entrusted him with managing the work of the management board. At the same time, the board decided to appoint Midera as the bank's president, subject to the consent of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority, the bank said. The Council also appointed Krzysztof Dresler, Ludmiła Falak-Cyniak and Piotr Mazur as vice-presidents.
All appointments to the management board were made for a new, joint, three-year term of office starting on March 26, 2024, with Ludmiła Falak-Cyniak being appointed on July 1, 2024.
Who is Szymon Midera?
“Szymon Midera is a proven manager with strong competences in managerial positions in banks and other financial institutions. Since 2016, he has been the founder, co-owner and president of Shumee SA (commerce platform) – one of the leaders of the cross-border e-commerce market. He was a member of the boards of supervisory boards with many years of experience in the area of professional corporate governance standards,” we read in the announcement.
For eight years, until June 2016, he served as the president and vice-president of Bank Pocztowy. During this time, the bank acquired approximately one million customers and underwent transformation from a settlement institution into a mass retail bank, launching, among others, modern online banking and a network of approximately 300 branches. Previously, he was associated with mBank for seven years. He managed, among others: the area of marketing, online sales and business development, was also given.
Maciej Cieślukowski and Marek Radzikowski remain delegated on behalf of the Supervisory Board to temporarily perform the duties of vice-presidents of the bank's management board, it was also announced.
PKO Bank Polski is the leader of the Polish banking sector. The bank's shares have been listed on the WSE since November 2004; is included in the WIG20 index. The bank's total assets amounted to PLN 501.52 billion at the end of 2023.
