Customers of Biedronka stores have become accustomed to a large selection of sweets from various brands. The product range will probably decrease soon because there may be no chocolates, boxes of chocolates and candies by weight from Wawel SA on the shelves.

On Tuesday, March 31, 2026, Wawel SA received an e-mailed notice of termination of the sales agreement concluded in 2022. The contract is to be terminated with a three-month notice period. Everything indicates that it is still sweet at the beginning of summer Wawel products will disappear from Biedronka chain stores.

As we can read on the website of the Krakow company, in the entire 2025, Wawela’s revenues from sales of the brand’s products in Biedronka chain stores amounted to 19.9%. total revenues of Wawel SA. That’s 739,437 thousand. PLN of revenue.

There have been disputes over the prices of Wawel products in Biedronka for years

Just a few years ago, Wawel SA’s revenues from the sale of products in Biedronka stores amounted to as much as 25%. It is no secret that an agreement with such a large chain as Jeronimo Martins means both enormous access to customers and high sales volumes, as well as pressure for low prices, discounts and promotions. The risk is high dependence on one customer: loss of a contract may significantly impact sales, and limited price flexibility may result in lower margins. In turn, the risk for the chain is the lack of popular products, which may discourage customers and weaken the competitiveness of the offer.

The dispute between the Biedronka chain and Wawel mainly concerned prices: the store owner did not want to increase product prices despite the growing costs on the manufacturer’s side (including increasingly higher cocoa prices). It cannot be ruled out that the contract may still be renegotiated and the terms adjusted to market realities.
