As found out by wnp.pl. On Friday morning, steel will flow from the steel furnace again at Huta Częstochowa for the first time in over a year. The material melted during the test launch of the installation is to be subjected to quality tests. Full-scale production is scheduled to start in 10 days.
Cold test positive
Operations at Hutta Częstochowa were to be resumed early. After stopping work at the end of 2023, the plant was scheduled to resume operations first in January next year and then in February. However, the first tests were carried out only in December last year. According to Węglokoks, On December 20, 2024, the cold start of the steel plant and the thick plate rolling mill took place at Huta Częstochowa.
Six test melts of steel
Six trial steel meltings are scheduled for January 10which will be subjected to laboratory tests. The result of the steel quality tests will be of key importance for the decision to resume operations, which, according to the company, may take place as early as January 20, 2025. The second part of the plant, i.e. rolling, is to start a few days later.

The launch of Huta Częstochowa has a significant impact on the stability of the steel market in Poland. The plant also has the potential to support the defense industry. After the collapse of the state-owned company Węglokoks took over the employer’s obligations towards over 900 employees and from the very beginning he announced the resumption of production.
