About politics, economy and more. The XXXIII Economic Forum is approaching

Luc Williams

In the Karkonosze Mountains, discussions about politics and the economy will be accompanied by meetings with authors and cultural events.

Artificial intelligence will be the focus of attention. The premiere of the book “AI Exploration” by prof. Andrzej Zybertowicz and Katarzyna Zybertowicz will take place in Karpacz. The married sociologists, considering various scenarios of AI’s interaction with the human world, debunk myths about AI. In the book, they also argue in favor of the Slow AI movement.
The development of artificial intelligence will also be examined by Prof. Aleksandra Przegalińska, author of the book “Artificial Intelligence. Inhuman, arch-human”. In a meeting with the Forum participants, she will seek answers to intriguing questions: Can an algorithm have emotions? Are robots conscious? Who controls today’s politics from the backseat? Are we approaching the moment when we will have to give up the crown of the rulers of the Earth?
Artificial intelligence will also be the subject of a meeting with Dr. Grzegorz Lewicki and Dr. Eng. Jerzy Ramert, authors of the book “Worlds of AI. Technofeudalism of the Posthuman Era”.

The Forum will also feature meetings with recognized authorities in other fields.

Jerzy Stępień, co-author of the local government laws of 1990, judge, former president of the Constitutional Tribunal, will meet with the guests of the Forum to talk about the book “Local Government of Freedom”. The long interview conducted by Renata Maciejczak and with an introduction by Jerzy Buzek, abounds in various memories: of a judge, a jazz musician, a prisoner of martial law, a senator, a reformer. Among the many issues presented by Jerzy Stępień, the detailed insight into the legislative process that led to the preparation in the Senate of the local government laws passed by the Sejm in May 1990 is of particular importance.

Prof. Bogdan Góralczyk and Prof. Marcin Jacoby will present a broader perspective on contemporary discourse on China during an author’s meeting devoted to the book “New Game in Chinese”. Prof. Michał Lubina, author of the book “Chinese Pretzel. From Taiwan to Tibet, or How China Creates an Empire”, will also focus on China.

Prof. Jerzy Bralczyk, who together with Artur Mamcarz prepared a book on communication in the healthcare sector from a linguistic perspective, will talk about healthy language for doctors and patients in Karpacz. It will be of interest not only to doctors and people passionate about language, but also to patients.

A permanent element of the Forum’s cultural programme is the screening of films. In Karpacz, conference participants will be able to watch, among others, “Heimat”, a story about migration as a human experience of questioning the social-relational and spatial matrices of origin. The Forum will also screen the film“War on Education” about the role of education during the ongoing war in Ukraine.

The XXXIII Economic Forum will be held on September 3-5.
