President Gustavo Petro participated this week at the Summit of the National Federation of Departments that took place in Villa de Leyva, Boyacá. In the event, several governors made claims for the public order situation in the country, the lack of management and breach of campaign promises.

After the meeting, in this Friday of De, De Meta, Rafaela Cortés, criticized the Petro government hard and assured that claims from the regions have no echo.

Therefore, the departmental president said that he already expects the arrival of a new administration: “a government that is more centered, less polarized and that understands that the country has 32 governors and that the 32, without distinction of the political color, need the National Government ”.

“What we say in the regions does not echo in the national government (…) Here they stigmatize us, this a country that is polarizing a lot, right or left. So you can’t govern. I government for 1,100,000 people, not for the 185,000 that voted for me. The call for the president is to govern for 50 million citizens who need solutions, ”he said.

The governor of Meta said that departmental leaders are tired of speeches and need resources to arrive from the central administration.

“The great nonconformity of the governors is because we feel that the summits end up being a space for everyone to spend a speech and nothing happens. We are tired of speeches, we need more action, we need resources to arrive, we need to increase the foot of strength, ”he said.

“People understand when there is no money, but we have to tell you the truth and not stay in the philosophical discourse that tires and demotivates us because we feel that we are wasting time and that we do not advance in important issues,” he said.

On the other hand, the governor of Santander, General (R) Juvenal Díaz, warned about the public order situation in the Magdalena Medio region and assured that something similar to the Catatumbo could happen in that area.

“Magdalena Medio is a polvorín. He is waiting for a phosphorus to happen something similar to the catatumbo, ”said Díaz.

He added: “In Barrancabermeja we have the ELN and the Gulf clan killing people every day. Yesterday, there were two murders. In Yondó we have the Gulf clan and the ELN aim to start a confrontation. We have southern Bolívar, where the ELN is also. ”
