Luc Williams

– We have signed an agreement with the Ministry of Digital Affairs, the University of Warsaw, the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków, the universities of technology in Kraków, Poznań and Wrocław to prepare a series of several dozen debates in Karpacz this year on all the challenges and threats related to the presence of humans in cyberspace and artificial intelligence – said Zygmunt Berdychowski, chairman of the Program Council of the Economic Forum, in an interview with Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.

– We want to transform this agreement into permanent cooperation, in order to use, wherever possible, the potential that scientists have already managed to develop, in order to respond to threats faster than in the case of other countries – he added.

Artificial Intelligence – Quo Vadis?

Discussions at the AI Forum in Karpacz will take place in three zones signed by universities – the University of Warsaw, the Krakow University of Technology and the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow. The event agenda is full of debates on the impact of artificial intelligence on society, economy and business.

During the panel “Artificial Intelligence – Quo vadis?” with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs Krzysztof Gawkowski, the current state of research on artificial intelligence and the benefits and risks associated with the use of genAI will be discussed.

Issues related to the use of AI in the area of cybersecurity will be commented on by Deputy Minister of Digital Affairs Dariusz Standerski during the discussion “Can artificial intelligence strengthen cybersecurity and how?”. The debate participants will analyze the potential of AI in building predictive models of hacker attacks and detecting them in real time.

Academics on AI

Co-hosts – representatives of the world of science and academic centers – will also speak at the AI Forum.

– The Artificial Intelligence Forum accompanying this year’s edition is the best proof that we all see the extraordinary potential and key role of AI in building and expanding the educational offer of future generations, including generations of new leaders – said Prof. Jerzy Lis, Rector of AGH.
As he added, artificial intelligence and its development also pose many challenges that various sectors using such solutions must face.
– Together with scientists from Krakow, we will look at these challenges and try to understand them better – he said.

Professor Jerzy Lis will take part in the discussion “Educating AI specialists – together and separately”. Professor Alojzy Nowak, Rector of the University of Warsaw, will also be a guest of the debate.

– At the University of Warsaw, we educate AI specialists by creating modern and innovative study programs. The panel will be devoted to these issues – he said.

As he added, artificial intelligence is undoubtedly pushing the boundaries of science.

– It is worth using its potential, but also remembering the threats. For this reason, I am pleased that the Forum will discuss the ethics and justice of artificial intelligence, also in relation to the legal and social consequences related to the activity of AI algorithms – indicated the Rector of the University of Warsaw.

Prof. Andrzej Szarata, Rector of the Kraków University of Technology, will speak about how to develop deep-tech in Poland during the AI Forum. The starting point for the debate will be the need for Poland to develop a long-term deep-tech development strategy with a view to using the potential of modern technologies and strengthening the country’s position in the region.
