Artificial intelligence: teachers’ new ally to personalize learning

Technology is transforming the world, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays a key role in this change. For teachers, the challenge of integrating AI into their classrooms is possible; besides, It is a necessary task to prepare new generations in a constantly evolving digital environment. However, many teachers face barriers to its implementation, from lack of training to concerns about the impact of AI on traditional teaching.

To support this challenge, the Telefónica Movistar Foundation created the comprehensive training route ProFuturo National Teacher Meetings, which offers educators the necessary tools to integrate AI into their pedagogical practices. Through tutorials, pedagogical guides, meetings with experts and other resources, it helps teachers personalize education and create more dynamic experiences for their students.

How to integrate AI in the classroom? The training route of the Meetings has been structured in several stages:

1.Teach with AI. Teachers learn how to use AI to personalize instruction, tailoring content to individual students’ needs. Techniques such as prompting are explored to improve interaction between students and educational platforms.

2. Create with AI. The workshop focuses on how AI facilitates the creation of multimedia content such as images, videos and music.

3. Train an AI. Teachers work on creating and training conversational agents to interact with students, promoting more interactive and personalized learning.

4. Analyze data with AI. Teachers learn how to use AI tools to analyze educational data and make informed decisions that improve their students’ performance.

5. Socio-emotional Meeting: AI and emotions in the classroom. Emerging technologies that allow teachers to manage students’ emotions through digital tools are addressed, including the creation of “digital twins” to identify and address their emotional needs.

“More than 1,900 teachers have participated in this training route, which has been broadcast live on YouTube and Facebook. These meetings have been viewed by more than 6,000 people and it is expected that participation will continue to grow,” explained Mónica Hernández, director of the Telefónica Movistar Foundation. “This year, more than 51,000 teachers have been certified for free with the formation of ProFuturo (also from the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation), strengthening their technological and pedagogical skills,” he added.

Fundación Telefónica Movistar offers more than 40 free and certified courses available, which those interested can consult on the Foundation’s website.
