Changes in PZU Życie. Former head of mBank at the head of the largest Polish insurer

Until the consent of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority is obtained Jarosław Mastalerz was entrusted with performing the duties of the president of the management board to the extent permitted by applicable regulations, it was announced.

At the same time, the Supervisory Board dismissed as of April 21 this year. from the company's management board: Aleksandra Agatowska, Andrzej Jaworski, Bartłomiej Litwińczuk, Dorota Macieja, Sylwia Matusiak and Dominik Witek.

The Council appointed to the management board of PZU Życie – apart from Jarosław Mastalerz – from April 22, 2024 – Iwona Wróbel and from May 6 Sławomir Bilik and Paweł Wajda.

Who is Jarosław Mastalerz?

Jarosław Mastalerz is an experienced manager for over 25 years, holding key positions on the management boards of the largest international financial institutions in Poland, both on the insurance and banking markets. During this time, he was responsible for a number of business functions in the areas of finance, operations, strategy, marketing and IT and technology, the release said.

On the insurance market, he held, among others, as financial director and member of the management board of Zurich Polska (1998-2003), then he was associated with the Generali Group in Poland (2003-2006), where he also served as financial director as a member of the management board. In 2007, he was the founder and president of the first Polish digital insurer – BRE Ubezpieczenia. Then, for 10 years, he worked for the mBank Group (formerly BRE Bank), where as vice-president he was responsible, among others, for: for retail banking in Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia, and then also for the areas of operations and IT, and supervised the technology, security and real estate departments.

Appeals in the supervisory board

April 17, extraordinary general meeting PZU Życie dismissed Beata Kozłowska-Chyła, Marta Bekus-Majewska, Piotr Głod, Kamil Kowaleczka, Tomasz Nowacki, Joanna Szandorowska and Marcin Szuba from the company's supervisory board. At the same time, the EGM appointed Maria Szczęsna, Maciej Wejman (who was appointed vice-chairman), Marcin Wojewódka and Krzysztof Wygoda to the company's supervisory board.

PZU Group is the largest financial institution in Central and Eastern Europe. The value of its consolidated assets amounted to PLN 436.12 billion in 2022. The company has been listed on the WSE since 2010; is included in the WIG20 index.
