The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of Colombia, in collaboration with the National Research and Development Agency of Chile and homologous entities in Latin America and France, announced the opening of the Amsud 2025 call.
This program launched by the National Government seeks to promote international scientific cooperation through the financing of joint research projects between France and at least two countries in this region.
It should be noted that Amsud is a scientific cooperation program created by French cooperation and its counterparts in Latin America. This initiative consists of three strategic lines: Stic-AMSUD (information and communication technologies), Math-Amsud (mathematics) and Climat-Amsud (climate change and climatic variability).
In that context, the main objective of this program is to strengthen scientific networks, promote academic mobility and contribute to the development of research in the region.
The call announced by the Ministry of Sciences, Technology and Innovation will be enabled until next May 15, 2025 and is aimed at universities, laboratories and research institutions that belong to the program: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela and France.
The projects that are selected may receive financing for a time of 2 years, with an economic support that ranges between 10,000 and 20,000 euros (this value depends on the budget availability of the entities). It should be noted that, each institution that wishes to participate must be responsible for covering the expenses of displacement of their work teams.
According to the details of the call, the proposals must be aligned with the thematic areas already previously defined in the program, which are: artificial intelligence, computer networks and systems, software architecture, algebra, statistics, geophysics, renewable energies, climate change, risk analysis, territorial planning and social inequality related to environmental phenomena.
It should be noted that, one of the Amsud axes is to promote the participation of young scientists and researchers, this includes master’s, doctorate and post -concetorado students. It also seeks to promote gender equity within the teams.
On the other hand, the formation of new international research networks and the production of useful knowledge is valued.
Finally, among the results expected by the projects that are gaining financing are joint publications, thesis, patents, scientific products and the strengthening of institutional capacities.
