The Chinese search leader plans to showcase the product at its annual event Baidu World in Shanghai next week, Bloomberg learned from a person familiar with the event’s schedule.

Baidu gadget will have built-in cameras for taking photos and recording video, and will support voice interactions built on Baid’s Ernie Foundation modelu, the source told Bloomberg, asking not to be named because the glasses are not yet public.

AI monetization

Striving to Monetize Artificial Intelligence resulted in more devices using new technology appearing on the market. Humane Ai Pin, which was intended to have act as a smartphone replacement was a complete failure. Another piece of equipment that was much better received by the market was the series Copilot+ PC from Microsoft Corp.

Meta Platforms Inc.’s smart glasses, designed in collaboration with Ray-Ban manufacturer EssilorLuxottica SA, are an older product that gained new features, capabilities and popularity this year. Meta stated that demand exceeded the company’s production capacity. However, EssilorLuxottica distinguished them as a product driving new sales.

Baidu glasses will be cheaper than Meta

Beijing-based Baidu is also working to leverage AI developments. The Chinese company’s smart glasses will connect to a suite of products such as Baidu Maps and its online encyclopedia Baike. Selling a product that probably will cost less than $299 Meta, it can start now in early 2025Bloomberg learned.
