The number of chargers is lower than the EU average

Powerdot reminds that at the end of 2025, there were 11,000 companies operating in Poland. 762 public charging points. Their number increased by 36% during the year, with an increase of 65% in the segment of direct current (DC) fast chargers. (2,667 points at the end of December). At the same time, the number of fully electric cars (BEV) exceeded 121,000.

Currently on one charging point for approximately 10 electric cars, which – according to Powerdot – is lower than the EU average.

“Investments in the construction of charging stations, carried out over the last three years, have led to a situation in which the infrastructure more than meets the needs of the existing fleet of electric vehicles. The concept of the so-called range neurosis loses its meaning in Poland,” says Grigoriy Grigoriev, general director of Powerdot in Poland.

The pace of station construction will slow down

In his opinion, investments in the construction of stations will continue in Poland in the coming years, but not at such a paceas in the exceptional years 2022-2025, when they were driven by regulatory requirements.

The expert pointed out that the data from the Alternative Fuels Register show that Charging stations have already been installed in over 6.2 thousand places. location. For comparison, there are approximately 8,000 in Poland. gas stations, although the fleet of combustion cars is approximately 200 times larger than that of electric cars. The average distance between the nearest charging stations is 2 km. 152 meters and within 16 months it decreased by 34%.

Motorways and expressways are the driving force behind the development of charging infrastructure

In Powerdot’s opinion, greater investment dynamics will apply to points on motorways and expressways, which is related to the expansion of the power grid and the possibility of obtaining subsidies. Fuel companies are becoming more and more active in this segment, diversifying their activities in response to the requirements of the AFIR regulation (Regulation of the European Parliament and of the EU Council on the development of alternative fuels infrastructure).

Infrastructure development is also to continue in the non-public segment – in logistics centers, offices and housing estates. There are already over 10,000 registered in Poland. electric courier cars, and the growing electrification of company fleets will encourage the installation of AC stations in places where vehicles spend the night.

Powerdot also expects changes to its competition model. In the future, the charging session will be started automatically by the car – based on solutions such as Auto Charge or Plug&Charge – and the energy price and the choice of operator will be determined by agreements between car manufacturers and charging network operators.
