During the event, which will take place on September 3–5 in Karpacz, the discussion “The fight for human capital. Migration processes and their impact on the economy” is planned. It will be led by Kamil Śliwiński, editor of PKB24.pl. As the organizers point out, unfavorable demographic trends and the migration of people of working age have become the biggest challenge for the European labor market. A shortage of employees is observed in many areas of the economy, which may become a permanent barrier to economic growth over time. The fight for employees, especially well-qualified ones, will intensify.
Competition for human capital motivates countries to create more attractive working and living conditions, which attracts talent and stimulates economic development. Who will win this race? And what will the European labor market look like in the near future? This will be discussed by (in alphabetical order): Keith Best, chairman of Wyndham Place Charlemagne Trust from Great Britain, Krzysztof Błędowski, visiting assistant professor at the University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów, Igor Lisin, vice president of the board of the Ukraina Foundation, Bryan Roberts, research consultant CREATE – University of Southern California, MP Agnieszka Ścigaj and Aleksandra Zapolska, co-founder and board member of the Zustricz Foundation.
Guests from Poland and abroad will also discuss the topic of “Fair and sustainable economic development. What and how to invest in order to live better?”. In unstable times and with the growing risk of another war, countries that invest a large part of their budget in armaments cannot forget about developing other areas of the economy – we read in the introduction to the discussion. In order to fulfill election promises, while ensuring fair transformation and sustainable development, there is a need for increasing debt of countries. Demographic changes also force political decision-makers to adopt many unpopular socio-economic solutions. How to maintain common sense, ensuring stable and safe economic growth, without excluding anyone and not falling into the trap of populism? The discussion will be attended by: MP Izabela Bodnar, prof. Jean-Marc Daniel, President of the Political Economy Association (Société d’économie politique, founded in 1842 by students of Jean-Baptiste Say), Maciej Kliś, Vice-President of the Management Board of the Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego, Lucjusz Nadbereżny, President of Stalowa Wola, Szabolcs Pásztor, Research Director of the Oeconomus Economic Research Foundation from Hungary, Paulo Miguel da Silva Santos, Chairman of the Committee on the Economy, Public Works and Housing of the Assembly of the Republic (Parliament of Portugal), and Konrad Wojnarowski, Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy.
