Energy prices in 2025

“We will talk to the Minister of Climate, the Minister of Industry, and all parties responsible for energy policy in Poland. We will talk about the actions we are taking to ensure that bills (for electricity – PAP) in Poland remain at an acceptable level,” Domański said when asked whether the government will maintain the current level next year. energy prices and energy voucher.

July 11 Minister of Climate and Environment Paulina Hennig-Kloska informed that the scale of aid for electricity consumers in 2025 will be decided by the government when preparing next year’s budget. “We have more or less estimated how much it would cost next year and such calculations were included in the demand for next year’s budget. As for the scale, the decisions will be made by the Minister of Finance, the government, shaping the budget for next year and this discussion is ahead of us,” said the minister, asked about the extension of the protection system for energy consumers to 2025.

Maximum price for electricity for households

From July 1 this year it is in force new maximum price for electricity for households – PLN 500 per MWh net, regardless of energy consumption. Under the regulations in force until June 30, households paid PLN 412 per MWh net up to the designated consumption limits. After exceeding them, the price was PLN 693 per MWh. The President of the Energy Regulatory Office approved new tariffs for so-called ex officio sellers at an average level of PLN 622.8 per MWh net, but for households, tariff prices after July 1 are irrelevant – they will still pay PLN 500 per MWh.

The price of PLN 693 per MWh from July 1 is maintained as maximum price for othersthe so-called sensitive recipients indicated in the Act – these include local governments, housing cooperatives, schools, nurseries, hospitals and small and medium-sized enterprises.

According to the estimates of the Energy Regulatory Office, the change in the frozen price from PLN 412 to PLN 500 per MWh as of 1 July will translate into approximately PLN 14.50 more on the monthly bill for a household with average electricity consumption.

End of distribution fee freeze

Also from July 1, the freeze on another item on the electricity bill – distribution fees – has disappeared. They increased from PLN 289 to PLN 430 per MWh, which, given the average household consumption, means approximately PLN 23.50 more per month. At the same time, the new regulations exempted households from another item on the bill – the capacity fee, which for the average recipient amounts to PLN 10.64 net per month. Ultimately, the bill of such an average household will increase monthly by PLN 27.50 net, i.e. by over PLN 33 after adding VAT and excise duty.

Energy voucher

In addition, from 1 August to 30 September, applications for an energy voucher will be accepted – a one-time cash benefit for households with lower incomes. The amount of the voucher will depend on the number of people in the household. Single-person households will be eligible for support in the amount of PLN 300, two- and three-person households – PLN 400, households of four to five people will receive PLN 500, and six-person and larger – PLN 600. If the household uses heating sources powered by electricity, the value of the energy voucher will increase by 100%. Depending on the size of the household, it will therefore amount to PLN 600 to PLN 1,200.

There are two income thresholds for the payment of the voucher: up to PLN 2,500 for single-person households and up to PLN 1,700 per person for multi-person households.. The “zloty for zloty” rule will also apply to the payment of the voucher. This means that the voucher will be awarded even after exceeding the income criterion, but its value will be reduced by the amount of this exceedance.

According to the rules, application for payment of energy voucher will have to be submitted to the mayor, mayor or city president competent for the applicant’s place of residence. According to declarations of the Ministry of Climate, payments for voucher benefits should take place at the end of 2024. (PAP)
