Changes in health insurance premiums
On Friday on TVN24 Minister of Finance Andrzej Domański was asked about changes in health insurance premiums. He confirmed that labolition of the calculation of contributions on fixed assets will only be the first step.
“Step number two will be lowering the minimum health rate, which is paid from 100 percent. minimum wage. We will reduce it to 75%. This second step will apply to one million of the smallest entrepreneurs,” said Andrzej Domański, Minister of Finance.
He added that this solution will cover entrepreneurs who do not receive income in particular months.
When will the solution come into force?
“We want this solution to come into force from January 1, 2025. The project is ready, we want it to be passed by the government as quickly as possible,” Domański said.
He stated that changes in the health insurance premium should be adopted by the government at its meeting next Tuesday and should then be submitted to the Sejm. He also added that decisions regarding changes in the contribution for 2026 should also be made at the meeting of the Council of Ministers.
How much will it cost?
“The solution that is currently on the tablein 2025 it will cost approximately PLN 1 billion, in 2026 – PLN 4.6 billion” – said Domański. – “We want to move towards a system in which the contribution will be a lump sum up to a certain level, and from a certain level it will be a percentage,” he added.
He emphasized that for many entrepreneurs it will be “a significant reduction in health insurance premiums and added that the reduction “will not affect the finances of the National Health Fund” because the reduction in contributions “will be covered by the budget.”
Energy prices
The Minister of Finance was also asked about support for households in terms of energy prices.
“The Prime Minister obliged me to present Mrplan to freeze energy prices and this plan is almost ready. I want to reassure Poland and Poles that they can rest assured about the contents of their wallets. We will work on a solution to ensure that energy prices do not increase throughout 2025.” – said Andrzej Domański.
