The scandal in Colombia does not cease on behalf of the letter published by Álvaro Leyva Durán, former chancellor of Colombia, saying that his former head, President Gustavo Petro, is drug addict.

In the debate, of the week, Camilo Rubiano said, Exconnsul from Miami; Christian Garcés, representative to the Chamber for the Democratic Center and Jennifer Pedraza, representative to the Chamber for the Dignity and Commitment Party.

If Álvaro Leyva lies, as President Petro says: Why don’t you demand it? This was the question asked the three guests to El Debate.

Camilo Rubiano responded like this: “I am not going to enter the gossip thorough if it is true and what will be the response of President Petro. He has legal, judicial, criminal actions to make a decision if he believes that in this case the chancellor insulted in what happened. ”

Christian Garcés did not answer directly to the question and, in contrast, recalled that there are 15 colleagues who asked the Senate of the Republic to submit the proposition for consideration and vote for specialized doctors to determine whether the president, Gustavo Petro, is in a position to govern or not to Colombia.

In turn. Pedraza answered in a timely manner, to the question: “If what he is raising is that gravity, then he should do so, go to the judicial stages.”.

Subsequently, Garcés said that President Petro is “controlled, enslaved.” “I do agree that it is enslaved, it is controlled by different actors, both external and internal to the government,” he said, realizing that behind the corruption scandals there is People with a lot of sensitive information that have “kidnapped” the presidentas Leyva said in his letter.

Álvaro Leyva, former president of the president’s government, Gustavo Petro, said Wednesday that the president suffers from drug addiction, in a new accusation of this type that the president has always denied. The former Minister Álvaro Leyva, who was one of Petro’s closest political allies, narrated in a letter disclosed in Network X Details about the alleged drug use of the president in Paris, during a trip for diplomatic purposes that they made together.

As noted, the president disappeared in the French capital for two days in that official visit of October 2023.

According to Leyva, they were “pregnant moments for me as a person and as a chancellor. And much more when I knew where he had been,” he added, without giving details. Petro also responded in X: “I have simply been slandered.” He added: “In an official visit of a head of state to France, there is always direct and permanent physical protection of the French Secret Service,” he said. The president said that during those two days he was with his daughter and grandchildren resident in Paris and said he was a “love addict.”

Leyva attacks Petro since he left his position, in February 2024, in the midst of investigations against him for irregularities in public tenders. “The person who leads the top of the State” is addicted to narcotics, had said weeks ago, not to mention the president. The president said at that time that his only “addiction” was coffee.

The letter has generated a political storm in Colombia. The opposition requested before the Congress that Petro undergoes toxicological and psychiatric exams to determine if he is “in a position to govern.” The frequent late arrivals without explanation of the president to events have sometimes been associated with an alleged addiction. On one occasion, when I was a candidate, Petro apologized for attending a public act.
