Alibaba – Tongyi Qianwen
Alibaba released a series of its own models Tongyi Qianwen last year. Tencent uses its own artificial intelligence, for example in its messenger WeChat (chatbot based on the Hunyuan model).
Baidu – ERNIE
Baidu was one of the first Chinese companies to show a product based on generative intelligence. The company’s application is a direct competitor to ChatGPT and, according to company representatives, already has 300 million users. Ernie version 4.0 is said to have similar performance parameters to OpenAI’s GPT-4.
Huawei – Pangu
Huawei adopted a different business strategy than its AI competitors – it has introduced many models to the market that respond to the specific needs of specific customers. It operates in areas such as the government sector, finance, industry, mining and meteorology. Models Pangu are made available via a cloud offering.
ByteDance – Doubao
The owner of TikTok joined the AI race very late. It wasn’t until 2024 that it showed its first project. However, it stands out for its price – at this stage it is much cheaper than the competition. The model can generate audio content as well as programming codes, among other things.
