The draft amendment to the Act on compulsory insurance, UFG and the Polish Motor Insurers’ Office was adopted by the government. The purpose of this change is Securing citizens by the effects of identity theft when concluding compulsory civil liability insurance contracts. According to the assumptions of the project, before the conclusion of the insurance contract Societies will control the PESEL number via the UFG ICT system, which will significantly make it difficult to use their use. In case of any doubt (reservations of the PESEL number), the insurance company will be able to refuse to conclude a contract.
The government adopted a draft amendment to the Act on compulsory insurance, UFG and the Polish Office of Communication Insurers, thanks to which the procedure for concluding liability insurance contracts for stolen personal data will be completed. The new solution is to come into force three months after the announcement in the Journal of Laws.

Fraud buying fictitious OC policies is quite well known. Data thief He buys a policy from the insurance company for stolen data with the possibility of installment fees. Then it pays only the first installment. Unfortunately, if the other payments are not settled, the policy does not expire. Compulsory civil liability insurance will continue until the end of the period for which it was concluded, and after unpaid installments, the insurance company will report to the person who is on the contract.
What does the PESEL number protect against?
