Registration stickers have not been issued for over two years – from September 4, 2022. Old from that date Stickers sticked on millions of cars have ceased to be of an official character and are treated as ordinary stickerse.g. those that confirm the purchase of a foreign highway vignette.
Registration sticker in a used car – pick or not?
Currently, when re -registering the car, drivers do not receive an additional marking, in the form of a glass sticker, for which there is a lack of up to PLN 3,000 before changing the regulations. But what about the sticker that is already glued in the car that we have just bought? Do we have to break her?
Recently, information has appeared on the network that after re -registering the car, when the numbers on the license plate are not consistent with those on the sticker, the police are issuing fines.
Such information is untrue. The new regulations do not impose the obligation to remove old stickers on drivers, nor do they provide penalties for driving with a still glued sticker. In addition, the abolition of the obligation to issue stickers brought them to the role of ordinary stickers. This means that there is no punishment for leaving her on the glass.
Therefore, the decision whether to break the sticker or leave it depends only on the driver.
In some situations, however, there is a mandate for the glass sticker on the glass
The old registration sticker is not in danger of a fine, unless it is stuck in the wrong place. However, it should be remembered that this applies to all stickers, both those with the registration number and any other sticker.
Drivers can stick any stickers on the glass, but one condition. It cannot limit the field of view of the field of view. It cannot therefore be glued, for example, too high at the driver’s eye height.
What threatens for a sticker that limits the driver’s field of view?
There are two sanctions for any sticker, including the one with the registration number in the field of view of the driver. One of them may be a penalty fine of 20 to even 3000 PLN, in accordance with art. 97 of the Code of Offenses.
“Art. 97. A traffic participant or other person on a public road, in the residence zone or traffic zone, as well as the owner or owner of a vehicle who goes against other provisions of the Act of 20 June 1997 – Road Traffic Law or provisions issued on its basis, shall be punishable by a fine of up to PLN 3,000 or a reprimand.”
The second sanction is more severe. The police can stop the vehicle’s registration certificate and even formally withdraw the vehicle from traffic.
