Microsoft Global Outage
Grounded airlines, suspended train services, telecommunications problems, stock market disruptions – in the past few hours, numerous companies from Australia to the US have reported outages.
The global IT outage is not being treated as a cybersecurity issue, Reuters reported, citing a British government source.
Cyber incident?
“There is no information to suggest this is a cybersecurity incident,” the Australian Cyber Security Coordinator’s office said. Michelle McGuinness.
In a statement published by the Microsoft Services Administration Center, it says that users may not have access to various apps and services, including Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Fabric, and the Microsoft 365 admin center. The company said it is taking corrective actions.
Microsoft cited a configuration change on Azure, its cloud platform, as the initial cause, which caused “a communication break between storage and compute resources, resulting in connectivity outages affecting downstream Microsoft 365 services that depend on these connections.”
According to media reports, the problems in the Australian network could be related to an update of CrowdStrike software, which protects against cyberattacks. (PAP)
