A great controversy has been unleashed in relation to the Special jurisdiction for peace (JEP) and the task he is doing to judge what happened during the Colombian armed conflict. Everything was triggered after the United States government suspended the aid of Usaid, a program that finances different initiatives worldwide.

In the case of Colombia, for example, the JEP is one of the entities that are most harmed or at least this Alejandro Ramelli, president of this Transitional Court, warned. The official warned that without this money there will be a great impact on the investigations to the acts committed by the FARC.

The senator Paloma Valencia He spoke about this issue and strongly questioned how little the court has advanced despite the fact that it was created for several years. The congressman of the Democratic Center showed her discontent because so far there is not a single leader of the extinct guerrillas in jail for the crimes she committed.

“This is the confirmation of what has been said many times that this court was designed for the FARC to sign with the guarantees that they would be in impunity. At the same time, the JEP has become the executioner of the Colombian institutionality, ”he said.

Valencia argued that this court has been in charge of pursuing “savagely” to the public force, while it is not measured with the same rod to the demobilized who committed atrocious crimes for many years. “Ridiculous incentives have been leading to false confessions and a number of things that are not acceptable,” pointed out.

In addition, the militant of the Democratic Center questioned the alleged truth that has managed to get the JEP, as promised during its creation in the middle of the agreements in Havana. “Justice we have not seen because the members of the FARC ended up in Congress, but there is one more serious thing: What has been the contribution made by the JEP to the Colombian truth? ”asked.

Therefore, he raised the possibility that these people may be in prison and, at the same time, participate in politics, this with the aim of paying for the crimes they committed in different areas of the country and with which they hurt Millions of Colombians.

“The country is waiting for exemplary sanctions, but what happens is that in the agreement it was put that they will not be able to put sanctions, because this cannot make their political life incompatible (…) So that they give them permission from the prison so that they can make a presence in Congress, but that they are in jail ”, pointed out.

The senator assured that this type of thing completely limits the magistrates of the Peace Court, explaining that no matter how much they would like to have justice and that the former guerrillas were to prison, “They are tied by the legal framework of the agreement” of peace.
