The former head of the Polish Central Anti-Corruption Bureau (in the years 2009–2015), which took part in the annual event organized by the Polish-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce, explains that the mass phenomenon in the realities of the war in Ukraine became, among others Corumming officials or representatives of the medical sector in order to obtain an exemption from the army. Our interlocutor, however, emphasizes that corruption practices usually do not apply to foreigners.
– This is good news for Polish business. It bypasses us because we have good medical insurance and we do not have to use the state health service. We can afford foreigners for legal acquisition of certain goods and services, Ukrainians have a problem with this – notes the vice president of Kredobank.
Ukraine must show progress in systemic combating corruption
According to Paweł Wojtunik, the key challenge, which is facing Paweł Wojtunik, prove progress in systemic combating corruption. – those that will be incentive for current and future investors. The European Union, or other donors or large investors, will always ask: “And how is the situation with corruption?” And “Will I have to give bribes?” – indicates the interlocutor of DGP. And he expresses the opinion that Kyiv could consider creating something like a Polish anti -corruption shield.
– I think that in Ukraine there is already aware that corruption is a pathology for democracy that affects everyone at different levels of power – says DGP Paweł Wojtunik.
Ukraine uses in the fight against corruption from the experience of Poland
As the former head of the CBA adds, the fight against corruption is associated with the accession process to the European Union. – I am an optimist, I think Ukraine will become more and more resistant to this phenomenon – sums up the former head of the CBA. During the 17th Baltic Business Forum on and other participants unanimously paid attention to the fact that a quarter of a century ago, before joining the European Union, Poland also had a great problem with widespread bribery and we managed to eradicate this phenomenon – which helped the richness of society and the adoption of standards in force in the Western community.
