Pepsico intends to continue to invest in Poland

Luc Williams

The last large investments of Pepsico include a factory open in 2023 near Wrocław.

This is the most modern and largest Pepsico production plant in the European Union. It cost PLN 1.3 billion. And we are still investing there – this year we are going to open another two new production lines – says the representative of Pepsico.

New renewable energy installations are created

– Last year, we successfully completed an investment in our own solar farms, which are located at production plants. At the moment their power is already six megawatopics. In our drink in Znin, green energy is responsible for 20 percent. Electricity demand, which is quite a high value – says Julian Krzyżanowski.

As he emphasizes, ultimately the entire Pepsico production in Poland is to be powered by green energy sources, but it will require large investments.

We are at the beginning of this path. We started with solar farms. We also plan to put wind farms – he explains.

In anticipation of the deposit system

Another challenge that Pepsico has to face is the introduction of a deposit system in Poland. Research shows that 90 percent Poles are waiting for this solution. In short, the deposit system is that when buying a pack, the consumer brings a deposit. Depending on the type of packaging, it is 50 groszy or PLN 1. This money can be recovered by giving the bottle back.

– The point is that the packaging after our drinks would not land in rivers or forests, not burned, just returning to the store, and then gain a second life, be reworked back. From the point of view of companies like ours, it is a huge saving of materials – says Julian Krzyżanowski.

The deposit system is to enter into force in October this year.
