Poles lack a sense of economic security – education as a chance for change

Up to 59 percent respondents after the last 12 months believe that more and regularly saving on the so -called Burnains, and half of them declare that savings should be diversified. These are just a few of the conclusions of the study “The level of financial knowledge of Poles 2025” carried out at the request of the Warsaw Foundation Institute of Banking and the GPW Foundation. These data were presented on the eve of the Congress of Economic Education 2025 (Kee).

The slogan of this year’s ninth edition of the Congress, which took place on April 16-17, was “Economic education on the road to the economic security of Poland and Europe”. The results of the study showed that the issues raised during the event are not only current, but also necessary in a wide public debate. It is clear that despite the growing role of finances in everyday life, many citizens still lack the knowledge and competences needed to make informed economic decisions. The event organized by the Warsaw Institute of Banking Foundation and the WSE Foundation, once again became a dialogue platform on building the financial immunity of society. Several hundred participants of Kee 2025 – representatives of administration, financial sector, world of science, media and youth – emphasized that economic education is a necessity in the modern world.

Education at the Debate Center

The research conclusions were the starting point for numerous debates and discussions that took place during the two -day congress – 1On April 6 in the online formula from the National Center for Economic Education and April 17 stationary in the conference space of Varso Place – the highest building in the European Union. Experts wondered how to effectively develop the financial competences of Poles, and what role in this process should be played by public institutions, the banking sector and the media. There were also debates about saving, building the right attitudes, investing and the capital market, financial health of Poles, finances in relationships about the voice of the young generation and their approach to financial management. An important part of the Congress was the discussion about the role of the media in the process of economic education. Editor -in -chiefs took part in it, including PAP Biznes and subjectively about finances.

Among the special guests and speakers included, among others Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digitization Krzysztof Gawkowski, president of the NBP prof. Adam Glapiński, financial spokesman dr Michał Ziemiak, deputy minister of science dr hab. Eng. Maria Mrówczyńska, deputy minister for civil society Marek Krawczyk, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Finance, the Senate of the Republic of Poland, the Polish Financial Supervision Authority and the university.

The financial sector leaders were also a strong representation: President of the ZBP Dr. Tadeusz Białek, vice president of ZBP Agnieszka Wachnicka, representatives of ING Bank Śląski, PKO BP, KIR, Bank Pocztowy, ZUS and WSE. There were also authorities of the world of economics – including prof. Witold Orłowski, DHC SGH Krzysztof Pietraszkiewicz or dr. Wiesław Rozłucki.

Important initiatives and cooperation

Test results “The level of financial knowledge of Poles 2025” They clearly show that we need consistent, nationwide activities for financial education and the involvement of many institutions and organizations in the implementation of these activities. The National Center for Economic Education, a continuator of the idea of ​​the Year of Economic Education 2024 is such a subject. Two organizations joined the group of organizations involved in KCEE’s activities: the Think Foundation! and the EFPA Polska Foundation. Together, they are to create a nationwide platform for the development of citizens’ economic competences.

Education – common responsibility

The organizers of the Kee 2025 emphasize that only the extensive cooperation of public institutions, business, the world of science and the media will allow to realistically improve the level of financial knowledge of Poles. Congress once again confirmed that economic education is not only an academic topic, but a strategic tool for building economic and social stability.

The Congress of Economic Education 2025 took place under the auspices of the Polish Presidency in the EU Council, the conference of rectors of economic universities and the Council of Financial Education. The main partner was the Polish Cashless Foundation, and in the group of supporting partners were, among others ING Bank Śląski, KDPW, Santander Bank Polska Foundation, Bank Millennium Foundation and EFPA Polska. The event was co -financed by the National Bank of Poland. The technological partner was the Banking process and information center. He took the media patronage, among others Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.
