Private schools in Bogotá suffered drastic changes in relation to the charges they can make; what is it about?

The Secretary of Education of Bogotá continues to execute the strategies for the 2025 student season. After the evaluation and promotion processes that were developed in all locations of the district for teachers, the entity now published resolution 1725, which regulates payments that private institutions in the city may charge.

The first costs that will have to be assumed by the schools will be the processes of systematizing the grades, in addition, the updates or purchases of programs to total them. On the other hand, the stationery used by the institution cannot be charged to the minors’ guardians under any circumstances.

The use of the institution’s desks and spaces should not be included as an additional value to the registration, because in the monthly or annual payment a value is already canceled for the use of the physical plant of the academic centers.

Another relevant point of the resolution is regarding the supplies that the minors will use. In this aspect, the entity will closely monitor the elements that are requested by the institutions to have control of the materials that the guardians are forced to purchase and the academic use that is given of them.

Going to the other side, there are a series of charges that schools may make to the parents of minors and that the disbursement of these additional payments will be their responsibility. The first aspect is the extracurricular outings, these are offered by the school as complements to the academic plan and the costs must be assumed by the guardians, in addition, they will have to approve the participation of the minor in all cases.

Duplicates of diplomas or degree certificates also fall into the category of additional payments that institutions can request. Along with these, certifications or certificates that are requested by students’ families for various purposes will have a monetary value if the school or academic center considers it so.

For the nation’s public institutions, the Ministry of Education announced the rates that will apply for next year and the way in which these values will be calculated. Through a decree, the entity announced that The rates that will govern the educational system in 2025 are based on the criteria proposed in article 202 of law 115 of 1994. This determines the values of enrollment, pensions and periodic charges originated in the provision of educational services.
