Drivers’ concerns about electric vehicle battery will run out before reaching the destination or that get stuck in long queues at charging stationsare one of the main obstacles to the widespread use of electric cars.
Charging in 10 minutes
Now, with Zeekr’s new cells, the race to eliminate consumer range anxiety has taken a giant step forward. The improved lithium iron phosphate battery, when connected to Zeekr’s ultra-fast V3 charging station will charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in 10.5 minutesZeekr, which is part of the Zhejiang Geely Holding Group automotive conglomerate, said in a statement on Tuesday.
As the manufacturer assures, even at low temperatures such as minus 10°C, when batteries wear out faster, the charging time of the cells to 80 percent will still be quite short and will be about 30 minutes.
The new batteries will be available in the 2025 Zeekr 007 sedan, with deliveries starting next week.
Expansion of the charging station network
The company said it has opened more than 500 ultrafast charging stations in China and plans to double that number by the end of this year. Zeekr aims to operate more than 10,000 ultrafast charging stations by 2026.
