Study English for free: this is how you can do it at SENA in 2024
The National Learning Service (Sena) is one of the institutions that offers a good number of opportunities. The entity is public and has technical, technological and professional training programs. Its mission is to train and prepare thousands of Colombians for different jobs.providing knowledge in areas such as technology, industry and commerce, among other productive sectors.
One of the most requested programs at the institution are those related to language learning. There you can not only study English, but they also offer alternatives for French and Portuguese. This course, called ‘English Does Work’, has beginner levels, A1; basic, A2; and intermediate level, B2.
To access the course, you must follow these steps:
- Access the official Sena course portal, called Sofía Plus.
- Then you must look for the ‘What would you like to study’ section. There you must write the word ‘English’ and press ‘enter’.
- Finally, the list of courses will appear, in which their levels and description appear.
- There, you must choose one of the options. Most are 48 hours long and are virtual.
Remember that to start the course you must have previously registered on the Sena portal. To do this, you simply have to have your identification document on hand and provide the entity with your information, in addition to filling out boxes with additional information about yourself.
How to register with the Sena?
- Access the page https://oferta.senasofiaplus.edu.co/sofia-oferta/
- Look for the box at the bottom left that says: ‘What would you like to study?’, and select ‘Virtual Training’; Then, enter a keyword (such as marketing) and press ‘Search’. (It is important to check the level of the program you wish to enroll in).
- All details of the training program will be displayed.
- If you are already registered, enter your details to begin the registration process.
- If you don’t have an account yet, click ‘Sign Up’ and follow the instructions.
- In order to register or enroll in any training program, you must upload your current identification document to the Sofía Plus platform.
- If you are already registered, enter the platform and select: Applicant Registration, Person Registration and Documents, then upload your document.
- The specifications for uploading the document are as follows: PDF format, scan the original document, portrait orientation and maximum size of 2 MB.
