The head of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment announces the possibility of further price reductions for the so-called energy tariffs

Minister of Climate and Environment she was asked on TVP Info about energy prices this year. According to the regulations, they are frozen until June this year. When asked whether energy prices would increase from July, she replied: “No. Absolutely.”

“We are looking for solutions. Firstly, market prices are falling because the so-called CO2 emission fees From energy produced from coal. So there is room to go further price reductions of the so-called energy tariffs. And we will also talk about it tomorrow at the ministry. We are meeting with all important ministries,” announced the head of the Ministry of Climate.

She added that the meeting is to be attended by, among others, Head of the Ministry of Finance Andrzej Domańskiand President of the Energy Regulatory Office, Rafał Gawin.

New decisions regarding energy prices

“We have completed the stage of work and proposals within the ministry. Now we need to determine it at the government level,” she said. She added that the ministry has various solutions. “There are also solutions to go further freeze prices and gradually leave these frozen prices so that it is acceptable for the economy and citizens, e.g. by increasing the price by 15%. e.g. in the second half of the year, which would be affordable for farms,” ​​she explained. She noted that “it absolutely must be a protective program for the poorest people“.

As she said, gas prices fell, among others due to a warm winter or greater availability of this raw material for European markets.

The President of the Energy Regulatory Office will be there. He will also show us the latest analyzes of the possible solutions, and we will choose a solution from the entire range of solutions we have. I think that within In the next few weeks, we will show the government’s decision on what we want to do with this problem,” she said.

In her opinion, the entire government has “the will to solve this problem and secure the economy and citizens.”

Windmills are back in play

The minister assured that in the work on the so-called windmill act will be a distance of 500 meters between windmills and buildings is maintained. “It’s a matter of a few weeks before the bill will be added to the list of government works,” she added.

At the end of 2023, an act was passed which maintains the current rules for protecting specific electricity, gas and heat consumers in the first half of 2024. The regulations provide for, among others: maximum electricity prices for households and small and medium-sized companies.
