The Vision trade union announced its solidarity with the IF Metall strike that started in October 2023. From October 10, Tesla will have problems operating its charging network in Swedenthe largest Nordic country.
According to a statement published on the trade union’s website, Vision members employed by municipal energy companies will no longer service, repair or perform maintenance tasks at Tesla electric vehicle charging stations.
Fight for workers’ rights
The solidarity action follows a strike by Tesla technicians who are members of IF Metall, one of the largest workers’ unions in Scandinavia.
The protest of mechanics of this manufacturer’s car workshops, which continues to this day, began on October 27 last year. The reason for stopping work was the employer’s refusal to sign a collective agreement. Such written contracts that define key terms of employment, such as pay, working hours and leave policiesare common in Sweden.

The dispute continues to hamper Tesla’s operations in the Nordic region as sympathy actions from other unions spread to dock workers in neighboring Denmark, Finland and Norway. Since December, Tesla has had to transport its cars to Sweden by truck from mainland Europe because dockers refused to unload cars ordered for the country.
They also joined the boycott waste disposal workers who have not collected garbage from Tesla plants since December. They also contribute to the boycott of Musk’s company postal workers who stopped delivering license plates for cars of the American company.
Elon Musk sued postal workers whose actions he called “madness”. In early December, Tesla lost the dispute in court, so the protest can continue.
Although Tesla’s Model Y was the best-selling new car in Sweden this year until August, it sales of this model decreased by 8.8%.according to Mobility Sweden.
