A great controversy has been unleashed after an M-19 flag appeared during a speech that President Gustavo Petro, who belonged to this armed group, gave in the municipality of Chicoral, in Tolima. The words were subsequently transmitted as an address and again this symbol was observed again.
One of the things that has caught the attention is that in the flag you could read: “Long live Petro President, M-19, 2026-2030 ″which lit alarms in different political sectors and generated many reactions.
Carlos Alonso Lucio, former member of the M-19 and who precisely shared with the president in this armed group, spoke about how Petro-his Carlos Pizarro, leader of the aforementioned organization.
“We were very friends with Carlos and that knows the whole M-19. Pizarro was exactly the opposite of Petro, in addition because Petro has only lied and deceived the country ”, commented.
In fact, Alonso Lucio said that the leader of the historical pact lied in several autobiography sections that he published at the time. “It’s a challenge of lies,” He pointed out.
The former member said that it is a lie that Petro convinced Pizarro to sign peace at the time, as he points out in his book. For the same reason, he revealed what the real relationship had.
“Pizarro never spoke or ten minutes with Petro, he never sat down to talk to him or ten minutes, Pizarro never met Petro. In fact, Petro was never a significant person in the history of M-19, he was never at decisive meetings or where things were discussed, ”he said.
Therefore, Lucio reiterated that the Head of State has only lied and deceived the Colombian people with the different things he says about the armed group.
On the other hand, he described as an disrespect for people many of the acts in which the president uses the M-19 flag and other symbols, in addition to the fact that he argued that the story is really being “misrepresented.”
“Gustavo Petro has done a lot of damage to the memory of the M-19 (…). It is a great damage to peace and history, because beyond that the M-19 has been an organization in arms, it is a stage of history that is worth studying it, ”he said.
Carlos Alonso explained that with this he is doing what he is achieving is “polarization and hate” between different sectors in Colombia. “This is degrading the value of the need for reconciliation and peace in the country”, pointed out.
“It is one of the great damage that Petro is doing, it is a provocative way for one reason: he is interested in dividing the country, polarizing and that is his game (…). That is why I believe that our exercise has to be the opposite and keep in mind that he is manipulating the story, ”he added.
