Usaquén Mayor’s Office launches scholarship for young people who want to study at universities in Bogotá, these are the requirements

Studying is a very important aspect to be able to get ahead, improve the quality of life and fulfill the dreams that we have had since we were very young. However, it is no secret that accessing quality education can be complicated and even expensive, especially when it is superior.

For this reason, there are many entities that make calls so that young people can apply for scholarships and in this way choose the career for the profession they want to pursue for the rest of their lives.

Precisely, the Local Mayor’s Office of Usaquén, since last November 25, announced the opening of the call Youth with Purpose – Usaquén, Life Project, a scholarship that is aimed at people between 14 and 28 years old, who reside in this town of Bogotá and have the dream of getting ahead studying.

“The scholarship consists of financial support for access to higher education at the levels of university vocational, professional technical and technologist training, in public and private higher education institutions,” the entity reported in a statement.

As explained by the Mayor’s Office, this scholarship covers up to six current legal monthly minimum wages (SMMLV) for the respective tuition payment for each semester of university programs and up to 3.3 SMMLV for technical and technological programs. This, for the duration of the entire race.

The local authority indicated that the people who are selected as beneficiaries will apply for the provision of a social service through which they will have to make remuneration in hours of service per semester, due to the public resources that are being invested in their education. “To do this, it is a requirement to comply with the presentation of the Social Remuneration Program (Pres) of the Local Mayor’s Office of Usaquén, through a signed letter of commitment,” accurate.

Daniel Hernando Ortiz Quintero, local mayor of Usaquén, highlighted that for his administration it is essential that young people can access education and thus improve their quality of life.

“We firmly believe that everyone should have the opportunity to achieve their dreams, regardless of their financial situation. For this reason, we are committed to education as an engine of social change,” he said.

The official added: “We want to ensure that the young people of our town have the opportunity to grow and prosper and with this scholarship we contribute so that they can achieve this.”

Minimum requirements to apply

People who wish to apply must be between 14 and 28 years old, live in the town of Usaquén, be a high school graduate or close to graduating in 2024 and comply with the Pres.

Likewise, applicants will need to be admitted or in the admission process at a higher education institution endorsed by the Ministry of National Education, in accordance with the academic program they have selected.

It is essential that these people are not graduates of a higher education program at the university level, nor have other additional financial support from national, district or other organizations to pursue higher education studies at the university level.

“It is important to highlight that the entire selection and qualification process will be carried out by Icetex, based on the applications received, in accordance with the criteria defined in this call. The 15 highest scores will be called for an interview,” The Mayor’s Office reported.

The call will be open until next December 13 and those interested can apply through the Icetex website, where they will find the respective registration form.
