Nuclear energy in Poland
On Tuesday at the European Solidarity Center in Gdańsk, it began Baltic Nuclear Energy Forum. During the briefing preceding the event, representatives of the government, the authorities of the Pomeranian Voivodeship and experts referred to Polish Nuclear Energy Program (PPEJ).
The director of the Nuclear Energy Department at the Industry Ministry Paweł Gajda reminded that currently MP is finishing work on the update of PPEJ, i.e. a strategic document that determines the way nuclear energy in Poland. He emphasized that two nuclear power plants will be built as part of the program in the country. The first of them will be built in the location Lubiatowo-Kopalino in Pomerania.
“This project is already quite advanced when it comes to preparing this investment. Last Thursday the Senate adopted a law that decides to grant additional financing in the amount of PLN 60 billion for this investment. The Act is now waiting for the President’s signature” – explained the director.
He added that in parallel talks and negotiations with the European Commission regarding public aid notification, “so that the whole financing for the first Polish nuclear power plant can be done.”
Second nuclear power plant
Gajda emphasized that in the near future the Ministry of Industry is also planning intensive work on the preparation of the project of the second nuclear power plant. MP indicates two preferred locations, i.e. Bełchatów and Konin and two reserve locations, i.e. Połaniec and Kozienice.
“Here we aim at the so -called passenger locations to use, on one side, whether from the existing transmission infrastructure or from the economic environment, various types of entities that provide, for example, service services for existing power plants. We want to use their experience, but above all we want to provide these investments with an economic impulse for the region,” said Gajda.
Technology supplier and surroundings for a nuclear program
He added that in the parallel “selection process in the competitive mode of technology supplier in an integrated manner” would be conducted.
Gajda also pointed out that the Ministry of Industry undertakes and also develops a number of other activities that are related to the creation of the appropriate environment for the implementation nuclear program. “These are activities related to the coordination of staff preparation, research and development facilities, preparation of Polish industry for participation in nuclear projects,” he said.
In addition, as the director explained, social communication activities are also conducted in the industry ministry. “We must remember that implementation nuclear energy This is not only the process of building the power plant itself. This is a multidisciplinary process, “he noted.

Participation of companies in the process of building a nuclear power plant
Pomeranian Marshal Mieczysław Struk said that Pomeranian Development Agency It is to coordinate the activities of the micro sector, small and medium -sized entrepreneurs who are ready to participate in the process of building a nuclear power plant. “Secondly, we want to rebuild the education system in our voivodship at vocational school level, as well as high and university schools, capable of performing new tasks at the Nuclear Power Plant being built, or more broadly energy” – he noted.
The structure also said that the regional authorities are working on making at least 26 local governments to use the infrastructure built around the power plant. “I am thinking of higher education here, the involvement of the Gdańsk University of Technology, the Maritime University of Gdańsk” – he added.
Construction over political divisions

What includes the program of Polish nuclear energy?
The Polish nuclear energy program assumes construction of two nuclear power plants with a total power of 6-9 GW by 100 % belonging to the State Treasury Polskie Power Plant (PEJ) as an investor and operator.
According to the schedule, the so -called The first nuclear concrete for the first power plant reactor in Pomerania is to take place in 2028. The beginning of commercial operation of the first block is planned for 2036. As a partner for the first power plant, the previous government indicated the consortium of Westinghouse-Bechtel. It is to be built in the Lociatowo-Kopalino location in Pomerania.
For the second power plant, there are four “pitched” locations – two preferred and additional. The initial schedule for the second power plant provides for the start of a preliminary dialogue with potential partners and the announcement of the conditions of competitive procedure in 2025, selection of a partner, including technology in 2026, final determination of the business model in 2027 and the start of construction in 2032 (PAP)
