Is investing in Ukraine only risk or do new windows of possibilities open? This is one of the hottest questions of the 17th edition of the event organized in Świnoujście by the Polish-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce.
Increase in commercial exchange and a lot of opportunities for good investments in Ukraine
– In recent years we have helped Ukraine and we openly say that we will continue to do it. At the same time, we should take advantage of the historical opportunity and become an economic hub of a key importance for the economic reconstruction of Ukraine – argues Łukasz Gwiazdowski in the DGP studio. He emphasizes that as a member of the European Union and NATO, and at the same time a country that can boast of high economic growth, we have all the arguments to be a great partner for Ukraine.
– Our cultures are very similar, history also connects us, so partnership seems natural. It already pays off. In 2004, Poland sales Ukraine was $ 4.5 billion, and another record was set in last year – $ 14.3 billion. However, I am sure that we can use the opportunities related to economic partnership even better. The reconstruction of Ukraine is and will be a huge process covering the whole country and the entire economy and Poland, including Polish business, can play an extremely important role in it – believes Vice President Paih.
He agrees with prof. Marek Belka, that the reconstruction of Ukraine combined closely with its great modernization is a great opportunity for Ukraine, but also for all of Europe, including Poland.
– Europe did not look for a developmental impulse in Ukraine’s drama, but this impulse has come and it should be used for the good of Europe and for the good of Ukraine. In recent years, the EU has found itself in some impasse and the current situation, related to the war and the attitude of President Donald Trump, somehow forced action to strengthen the community, its independence and resistance to crises. It can be a great chance for a new development leap for Europe, and at the same time Poland’s chance to strengthen its position in this new strong Europe – argues Łukasz Gwiazdowski.
Polish hub for foreign investors interested in rebuilding Ukraine
He adds that Poland is already becoming a business hub for entrepreneurs interested in the development of economic relations with Ukraine and local companies, with entrepreneurs not only from Poland, but from abroad.
– We work with institutions similar to ours in Japan and Korea. They reported to us because they want us to help initiate economic relations related to the reconstruction of Ukraine also companies from their regions. I recently met with similar interest during my talks in the United Arab Emirates. Everyone agrees that investments contributing to the reconstruction and modernization of this country may be located in Poland at the border with Ukraine. We also see in this a chance for faster economic development and strengthening Poland’s position in Europe and the world – emphasized vice president PAIH.
He reminded that after the outbreak of the full -scale war – PAIH, as the first among similar European organizations, returned with her office to Kiev, and in last year she opened the second office – in Lviv. – We organize many pro-investment and pro-export activities for our companies, in the last two years 13 economic missions have been held and nearly 200 different types of meetings and economic and business activities, to which we invite both Ukrainian and Polish entrepreneurs to show their development opportunities, and at the same time help minimize the risks that often paralyze the activities of Polish entrepreneurs- says Łukasz Gwiazdowski.
