Armando Benedetti, Interior Minister and one of the strongest bishops that President Gustavo Petro has, went through the week debate and talked about everything. The official put in the sight what will be the popular consultation and even referred to the presidential elections and the Congress that will be held in 2026.
Benedetti remarked that the idea of Conveting a popular consultation is not related to an electoral aspect. However, what caught the attention is that he was confident that Petrism will be imposed in the Senate and the House of Representatives, predicted what he thinks will happen.
“The historical pact will win the elections to Congress, I am confident. (…) The only ones who can fight us to be in the first place is the democratic center, but still the historical pact will be on the podium, ”he said.
In fact, the head of the Interior portfolio went further and dared to deliver a number of congressmen who will achieve the movement led at the time by President Petro. “It will be 21 to 23 seats,” he said.
“This time we are going to be more organized, last time we came from being a minority. (…) Democracy is for that, so that minorities at some point can be majorities ”he pointed out.
Benedetti argued that less bad his words were recorded, because beyond the predictions he does, he is aware that demands can come to talk about this issue related to politician.
“If it is true that we (Petrism and Historical Pact) won the legislative, we are in the first position to define, help or win the presidential elections,” he said.
The former Mexican former ambassador to Venezuela said that one of the objectives is that there is not a Petrismo candidate as such, but that there is a need to put together a “Broad Front.”
