It turns out that 8 out of 10 surveyed people managing small and medium -sized companies believe that the bank can make their lives easier, especially in the field of new technologies. Entrepreneurs value the possibilities of using the mobile application (43%) and online access to functionality that help them run a business 1. In turn, the most important factors determining the selection of a company account are: access to quick national and foreign transfers, to a bank account and money from every corner of the world, to digital signatures and documents, and digital contact with public institutions 2. According to entrepreneurs, their lives would also be facilitated by quick and easy loans, the possibility of using postponed payments and modern technological solutions.

Visa Consulting & Analytics supports banks and their clients – small and medium -sized companies – in digitization

The VCA study shows that digital transformation is a must and can benefit companies and economies. Visa data shows that 67% of small and medium -sized enterprises in Europe currently use digital solutions. If you eliminate this 33%gap, the total revenues of Polish enterprises would increase by PLN 25.7 billion per year 3. The digitization of company payments and banking can be a good introduction to these changes.

– The Visa Consulting & Analytics team supports banks, financial institutions and service providers in creating solutions that meet the needs of their clients, including small and medium -sized companies from different sectors. Without data, such as those collected during the study, we would not have full knowledge about their expectations. It turns out that in the selection of a bank and the first account to run a business, for as many as 74% of small and medium -sized enterprises clients, the convenience and having a private account in a given bank play a key role 4. An attractive financial offer, a bank image, a simple account opening process and adaptation to the needs of the entrepreneur are also important. It is different when choosing a second and subsequent account – here the choice is determined by the functionalities of the mobile application and online banking adapted to their business needs – he says Wojciech Werochowski, director of Visa Consulting & Analytics in Poland.

By studying the Polish market, VCA conducted deepened research among over 300 Polish SMEs from different sectors to learn their needs in the field of banking, from elements that affect the choice of bank and company account, to products and services most useful in everyday management of the company and finances.

– From my perspective, the most interesting conclusion of the study is the great loyalty of this group of clients – most entrepreneurs managing small and medium businesses (71%) do not plan to change the bank when they are satisfied with the offer and when they have a private and company account in the same bank, because it is simply comfortable for them 5. The decision on a potential change is most often the result of a lack of a ward in the area or a large disappointment due to, among others introduction of fees that the bank had not received before or not granting a loan 6. It turns out that the positive decision about credit at another bank can be a deciding factor about a change – says Artur Bartosiak, director at the Polish team of Visa Consulting & Analytics, responsible for the implementation of the report.

The role of business cards in the development of SMEs

Running a business can also be simplified by business cards. The VCA study shows that 75% of Polish entrepreneurs running small and medium -sized companies declare that they have at least one card7. They use it several times a week, most often to pay for company expenses, such as fuel (60%), as well as to a lesser extent for parking lots, bus tickets, train and aircraft and for hotel stay 8.

According to experts from the Visa Consulting & Analytics team, the full opportunities of business cards can bring numerous benefits to entrepreneurs, including company management. They allow you to automate some administrative processes and make payment terms and consolidate business expenses. Thanks to timely payments, they can improve the company’s credit rating, not only by firmly by receiving a loan, but also protecting against fraud, especially in the case of online payments. For “tomorrow” companies, access to infrastructure and services that will support their diverse and dynamically changing needs will be more important than before. They will expect banks that they will facilitate their access to many currencies, payment methods and platforms, as well as additional possibilities, such as analytics, loyalty programs and solutions to prevent fraud.

– Visa uses its scale and knowledge, not only to help banks understand the current needs of their clients, but also those that may arise in the future. VCA offers a comprehensive range of services covering the entire process of creating solutions based on AI – from the initial concept and planning, through assessing capabilities and analysis of benefits to models design and implementation support. We are able to develop recommendations for Polish banks and analyzes, which they should include in their offer to support in the development of entrepreneurs who already have bank accounts, as well as what solutions can attract new customers – emphasizes Wojciech Werochowski.
