The representative to the Chamber for the Historical Pact Alirio Uribe was challenged by the congressman of the Democratic Center Christian Garcés, who requests that this be removed from the investigation being carried out by the Accusation Commission against President Gustavo Petrofor alleged irregularities in his presidential campaign.

Therefore, in , Garcés explained the reasons why Uribe must withdraw from the investigation being carried out against the head of state. He stressed that “they are intimate.”

The representative of the Democratic Center was emphatic in saying that the Law must be followed and the Political Constitution of Colombia must be respected. He asserted that what is happening in the Accusation Commission is serious.

“There is an investigative coordinator of a shortlist who is representative Alirio Uribe, who is prevented from being an investigator. Furthermore, it is a shortlist where two are from the Historical Pact and the other member appointed himself a member of the Commission, because he was its president at that time. There are clear causes of impediment,” Garcés highlighted.

In this way, Garcés highlighted that There are interests involved in this process, pointing directly to Congressman Uribe.

“Mr. Alirio was the Pact’s candidate for the Chamber for Bogotá and this affects the image of the Pact. If President Petro is removed, this affects the Pact. There is obviously an interest from representative Alirio. Mr. Alirio has been part of the José Alvear Restrepo group of lawyers who defended Petro during his trial at the Bogotá Mayor’s Office (…) Obviously Alirio is Petro’s representative, they are close, friends“He is prevented,” he added.

Therefore, He insisted that Representative Uribe must be removed from this process.

“Another thing that is very serious is that the deadlines and here the complaints that we have presented have expired, since the deadlines have already expired a while ago. The investigator should not continue, he should be removed from the position of investigator. So there are these and many more arguments and it is a lack of respect for Colombia that Mr. Alirio continues, not only as an investigator, but as a coordinator in a process like that,” he said in

Garcés warned that if Congressman Uribe is not removed from this case, In the end, nothing is going to happen in the investigation carried out by the Accusation Commission against Petro.

“It is clear that They are stopping the process and neither the law nor the Constitution will be respected”, he insisted.

Given what was mentioned by Garcés, representative Heráclito Landínez stated in that there is no irregularity in this process.

“Secondly, when we review the actions of the Commission, there are 116 processes and in many of them, representative Alirio is part of the investigation against the qualified president of the Republic with two other representatives. In many (…) here there is nothing irregular that designates it. And the third argument, that he (Uribe) is a close friend of the president… well How can we prove that he is a close friend of the president”Landínez highlighted.

Landínez also stated that Congressman Uribe is a defender of human rights in Colombia and that his “actions have always been governed by law.”

“So, there is no room here to challenge him or for impediments. What the Accusation Commission has to do is, according to the terms, act”, he asserted.
