Strengthening education from the socio-emotional environment, improving educational infrastructure, developing a sense of belonging with entrepreneurial projects were some of the reflections of the conversation ‘Designing systems from which students do not want to leave’, which was held This Wednesday, September 25, on the first day of the 11th Leaders for Education Summit.
During this first discussion, Vicky Ricaurte, co-founder and CEO of Arukay; Adriana González, manager of the Educational Infrastructure Financing Fund; Claudia Marcela Sierra Montes, academic director of Alianza Educativa; Bibiam Díaz, senior education specialist at CAF – Development Bank of Latin America – and Brigitte Baptiste, rector of EAN University, They explored strategies to create inclusive, inspiring and welcoming educational environments in which students feel motivated to stay. and actively participate, promoting continuous learning.
“We must continue to advance in complementary spaces where our students have laboratories, multipurpose classrooms, sports areas and spaces for student well-being. “for sharing, for feeding and for the relationship of the educational community, among many others. To do this, we need to continue working on the Educational Infrastructure Financing Fund,” said Adriana González.
He also stressed that this model, which has been operating in the country for several years, must be constantly improved and must be aligned with alternatives and entrepreneurial projects that allow students to develop their potential and passions in productive business models.
According to the CAF senior education specialist, in Latin America and the Caribbean, “the main reason why students drop out of secondary education is still that it is not relevant for our youth. They do not recognize it as such and that is why many decide to leave,” warned the expert.
