This Thursday, October 10, Jaime Andrés Beltrán, mayor of Bucaramanga, spoke about the controversy in which he was immersed in recent months, after he asked the national government to allow him to take more than 150 migrants captured in that city to the border with Venezuela in La Guajiraso that they would return to their country.
Therefore, Beltrán emphasized that, if there is a city that invests in the migrant population, it was Bucaramanga. “We are the city that has more than 9,500 migrant children studying payments through the municipality. Health system served for migrant families. The largest number of women who give birth in this city are migrants and are cared for by the municipality. This means that the largest investment of a municipality for migrant families is being made by Bucaramanga.”, he indicated.
However, he stressed that one thing is the migrants who come to Bucaramanga to work and quite another is those who come to commit crimes. Something that he stressed, he will not tolerate, thinking about good citizens.
“He who comes to commit a crime, comes to commit a crime. A person who has 22 scores in less than a year, what’s the point? That person comes to commit a crime (…) a person who has 22 notes in his/her record is not a person who is thinking about coming forward; He is a person who comes to commit a crime. And don’t tell me that because of human rights I have to put up with a criminal. Let your country put up with its. “There must be a change in philosophy,”
In this way, Beltrán said that he had a way to demonstrate with numbers that he was not a “xenophobe.” On the contrary, he insisted that they could not force him to have in his city to people who are attacking the integrity of the Bumangueses.
