Since its inception, the Economic Forum has been creating a platform for discussion connecting the East and the West, which is of strategic importance for Poland and Europe. Its unique dimension is ensured by an international set of experts.
During the XXXIII Economic Forum, Viktoria Voronina, Executive Director of the Center for Security Studies (CENSS) from Ukraine, will lead the debate “Scenarios of War in Ukraine”. As the organizers of the Forum point out, Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine has been going on for three years now, and the prospects for its end remain distant. There are more and more signals that it is becoming a war of position and attrition. Will 2024 bring a breakthrough? What are the prospects for ending the conflict? How long can it last? These are some of the questions that the participants will answer. The following will take part in the discussion (in alphabetical order): Marek Budzisz, senior fellow Strategy & Future, Oleg Dunda, deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Marek Kalwasiński, director of the Institute of Logistics at the Military Technical Academy named after Jarosław Dąbrowski, Jacek Kluczkowski, member of the Economic Forum Program Council, Maia Otarashvili, director of the Eurasia Program at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, USA, and Daniel Rice, president of the American University in Kyiv.
Among the discussions on security will be the debate “How to Strengthen NATO’s Frontline Countries?”. In recent years, increasingly complex security threats have emerged, emphasizing the need for stronger and closer cooperation in this area at all levels, the organizers point out in their introduction to the discussion. With the war in Ukraine, the Russian military has certainly suffered significant losses, but Moscow still poses a serious threat to NATO, especially to the countries located on the Alliance’s flanks. What actions should be taken to strengthen the defense potential of the countries on NATO’s periphery?
The discussion will be attended by: Radu Burduja, Executive Director of the Euro-Atlantic Resilience Institute from Moldova, Iulian Chifu, Director of the Conflict Prevention and Early Warning Centre from Romania,
Robert Hamilton, Director of the Eurasian Studies Department of the Foreign Policy Research Institute, USA; Marcin Kuchciński, Marshal of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship; Roman Lozynskyi, Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine; Brigadier General Dariusz Mendrala, Director of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Investment Department; Filip Nerad, Head of the Foreign News Department and European Affairs Analyst at Czech Radio; and Prof. Mark Voyger of the American University in Kyiv.
