– We have been present in Poland for 30 years, we have been investing here, creating jobs and support local communities – said Julian Krzyżanowski, Pepsico corporate communication manager during a discussion dedicated to American investments.

Global action, local significance

– The advantage of our company is that we focus on a long -term capital presence and stable employment – emphasized the representative of Pepsico. 3.2 thousand are employed in five factories and headquarters of the main company in Poland. employees.

Importantly, 40 percent The crew has been with us for 10 years, and 620 people – 20 years and longer – enumerated Julian Krzyżanowski.

He pointed out that especially in smaller towns, where Pepsico plants are located, he plays the role of the main employer and stabilizing the economic situation. This is the best example of the importance of foreign investment not only on a macro, but also micro scale.

Pepsico opened its fifth factory, on the holiday around Środa Śląska, only 2 years ago. This is a Greenfield investment worth PLN 1.3 billion, thanks to which 450 jobs will be created.

– This is not a coincidence that this Production Plant is located in Poland – said Julian Krzyżanowski. – Despite numerous external and internal challenges, we invest all the time. In 2025, we have an ambitious plan to launch two more production lines in this new plant in Święte near Wrocław. These are investments of $ 6-7 million. We are constantly increasing employment with high -class specialists – emphasized the representative of Pepsico.

More renewable energy, even from potatoes

During the debate at EEC, Julian Krzyżanowski also paid attention to environmental issues and the challenge of high electricity prices for the whole business.

We try to become a bit of an energetic one. Last year, after 2-3 years of preparation, we managed to launch four our own photovoltaic farms, located at our factories with a total power of 6mwp. At the plant in Żnin, 20 percent Electricity demand comes from renewable sources. These are significant values – said Julian Krzyżanowski.

Later this year, Pepsico wants to increase by 50 percent. The amount of energy from natural sources, by expanding existing PV installations. The American company also has ambitious investment plans regarding windmills to obtain energy for its own production.

Pepsico attaches great importance to saving water, which is crucial for the drink manufacturer. There is a conviction among Poles that we have a lot of fresh water. That’s not true. We sometimes have local problems with hydrological drought, and our business without water cannot exist. Hence our investments in all solutions leading to water saving. And we have a lot of success in this field – said Julian Krzyżanowski.

He added that water in Pepsico plants, especially in the latest one, is used two or even three times. Each manager has instilled to save it at every stage of production. Rainwater, filtered and then used is also harvested.

– Our production plant in Tomaszów Mazowiecki has reduced the demand for water by 25 percent within 10 years. – added a representative of Pepsico

The producer of snacks is particularly proud of the solution used in the production of chips made of Polish potatoes.

Potato in 75 percent It consists of water. We have come to such an innovative technology in the production process, thanks to which potato water is evaporated, recovered and re -introduced into circulation – explained Julian Krzyżanowski.

Castrodational business barriers

During the panel organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Poland (Amcham – American Chamber of Commerce in Poland), moderated by Marta, the president of this institution, the significant and positive impact of American investors on the key sectors of the Polish economy, all participants of the discussion emphasized. There were also expectations for the Polish government.

According to Julian Krzyżanowski, deregulation and failure of new administrative barriers are of key importance.

– We have our own plot next to our factory, we want to put up a farm there, we have financial resources, and current legislation does not allow us. This is some absurdity. By various, sometimes local regulations, e.g. a local spatial development plan, investing is difficult and extended to up to 2-3 years-indicated Julian Krzyżanowski.

In his opinion, very important for development – not only American companies – There is the predictability of the government’s activities regarding the economy.

– We plan the investment in our company in advance of several years, hence it is crucial that we know more or less what we can expect in the horizon of two or three years. Consultations with business are also important. Then we will have time to think, submit comments and prepare. The point is that we should not be surprised by something day by day – appealed a representative of the American investor.

He noted, however, that for some time there has been an improvement and entrepreneurs have been included in discussions about new solutions. The point is for this trend to persist.

Pepsico is a global leader of the drink and snack market. In 2023, the company achieved $ 91 billion in revenue, it includes such brands as Lay’s, Doritos, Cheetos, Pepsi, Mirinda and Lipton Ice Tea. In Poland, Pepsico has production plants in Mnichów, Żnin, Grodzisk Mazowiecki, Tomaszów Mazowiecki and the holiday around Środa Śląska. The company also runs a shared service office in Krakow, which employs approx. 800 people.
