Tusk: This is something that actually exceeds the current measures and imaginations

“Today, we symbolically open a large investment worth PLN 30 billion and the power of 1.5 GW. Only a part of the gigantic project in Polish energy” – he said Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Thursday.

He added that the investment will be located about 40 km from the shore, so “no one will disturb anyone.” He pointed out that for him, as a resident of Pomerania, this is “quite important”. He assured that investors thought that “the environment, tourist values of the region would not suffer because of this great investment.”

18 GW from the wind until 2040

“It is worth realizing that this is part of this project. By 2040 – this is not such a distant perspective – we think about 18 GW from the wind,” Tusk announced. He noticed that it was “as if we produced as much electricity as (PAP would produce) 4 nuclear power plants”.

The head of government summed up that “Poland can really be a leader of growth and also a leader in European optimism.”

What is Baltica 2?

Baltica 2 is a design of a sea wind farm with a capacity of about 1.5 GW. It will be one of the largest wind farms in the world. The investment is implemented by the Polish Energy Group and Orsted – a Danish company specializing in the maritime wind energy, whose majority shareholder is the Danish State Treasury.

The farm will cover an area of about 190 km. Located 40 km from the Polish coast, between Ustka and Choczew; It will be equipped with 107 turbines with a power of 14 MW each. The value of the project is about PLN 30 billion, of which Poland’s involvement (PGE) is about PLN 15 billion; About PLN 6 billion comes from funds within the National Reconstruction Plan. The operation of the wind farm is to start in 2027. (PAP)
