It will be a year of breakthrough – said at the beginning of the discussion “Transformation of the Energy Sector” Robert Kropiwnicki, deputy minister of state assets. He stated that processes are launched that would provide Poland with access to clean, safe and cheap energy. The deputy minister mentioned in this context, among others Investments in nuclear energy, in offshore (wind farms at sea) and in distribution network.
– We are planning extra time auctions, in which we hope that elastic gas sources will win. We must take care of the transitional fuel during the investigation of zero -emission energy – enumerated Robert Kropiwnicki.
During the discussion, a lot of attention was paid to the competitiveness of the economy. For now, in terms of energy price, Poland is not good at the background of other European countries.
Road to development
A large EU effort is put into a green transformation. But can competitiveness go hand in hand with ecology and reducing emissions?
According to Grzegorz Lot, the president of Tauron Polska Energia, the answer is “yes”. He emphasized that the fight against CO2 emissions is a stimulus to change, and the processes occurring should be looked at in a sufficiently long perspective.
– We have a strategy as the European Union, we base our advantage on it, we believe that we will be able to realize it. And now “Drill, Baby, Drill (Republican slogan – ed.)
– I am convinced that thanks to zero -emission Europe we will be competitive in price – he noted.
Tauron strongly focuses on the development of renewable energy sources. It will allocate PLN 30 billion for this purpose in the perspective of 10 years, which is to give about 7 GW power, perhaps 1 GW in warehouses. It is primarily about the development of wind energy, Onshore in our country. This will reduce the cost of energy production, which is very low in the case of renewable energy.
Nevertheless, conventional energy also has its role to play. As the President of LOT pointed out, it is necessary to carry out the transformation process. It’s about energy security. The issue is open whether coal assets will be separated from energy concerns by the government’s decision. As the president of LOT said, it doesn’t matter much.
– If they are not separated, we will keep the business model and financial results. We have a 910 MW unit, which can easily operate until 2035, because it is a power market, it may also be until 2050, because these are the EU dates, and the technical point of view can even operate until 2060. However, the 200 MW class blocks can work as long as the support system is, and this one is planned until 2028 – said the president.
The Polish economy is at stake
As Grzegorz Lot emphasized, the business core and the Tauron group strategy for 2025–2035 are 6 million clients connected to the distribution network.
– In the perspective of 10 years we intend to invest PLN 60 billion in a network, PLN 11 billion will come from KPO. We will allocate funds for its development, reproduction, on AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure, advanced measuring infrastructure – ed.). However, one of the main principles we adopted is that the development of the network is to be reasonable – he reserved.
PLN 60 billion is a budget, goals, such as connecting new customers and increasing sales, can achieve cheaper. As the President of LOT defined, the distribution network operators must ensure its reliability, but they are obliged to optimize cost optimization. He gave here an example of talks with investors at the Data Center who ask about three issues: who will provide them with a safe network, green energy and low price at a reasonable time.
– The most important issue for all of us is the difference between the customer’s energy and production profile and the related cost. This is a game for the economy – said Grzegorz Lot.
What to do to reduce the cost of the profile? The first thing that the President of LOT pointed out is action together with clients, it is about the development of dynamic tariffs.
– We have been testing them for a long time, and on June 21 a new offer will appear. We hope that tens of thousands of customers will be able to pay less than in all inclusive G11 tariffs – he said.
He added that this requires commitment, customer activity, society will have to change its habits.
– Energy warehouses are the second thing. Of course, we implement these large -scale, but a very interesting alternative are distributed magazines – said Grzegorz Lot, returning to 6 million customers of the group, which creates potential for the development of home warehouses. In this context, you must also remember about electric cars.
– That is why we create a network of fast charging station where the Tauron group operates, i.e. in southwestern Poland. We eliminate barriers. We want our clients to be able to move without stress – said Grzegorz Lot.
He also mentioned the use of heat as an energy storage. The goal is that 100 percent utility water came from green energy in the summer, from renewable energy (Power-to-Heat).
To make all these plans happen, digitization is also necessary. And something else.
– You need the belief that we are doing it for the future. Limiting emissions to 2050 does not necessarily mean that energy will be more expensive. You need a change in technology, determination and education. The transformation is irreversible, although of course the technologies will change. The next such chance will appear for two or three generations – said Grzegorz Lot.
